Hello friends!

It is weird to go back in time and talk about the time I went to the Island, which was like three weeks ago now. Basically a thing happened where we tried to go on Saturday night but then it was storm times and we waited at Horseshoe Bay for about 3 hours before they were finally like “Dear friends, there are 40 knot winds and 6 foot waves, we probably will not be going to the island but maybe we will later tonight if you want to wait around and find out”.

We for sure had enough waiting around by then so Raine got a refund and we returned back to my home for the night. The next morning we were all “We are going to Island for sure!” but by the time we got our things together we figured we wouldn’t make the 8:30 style one, so we had drive through coffee and got gas on the way.

But then! A wonderful thing happened where the ferry gods smiled upon us and we made it!

We were on a boat!

We headed up to Comox where we spent the night with Judy and Danny, eatin’ chickpea stew and drinking spicy cranberry booze. The next morning we loaded up all the things to go down to Victoria, but before leaving we stopped at Zen Zero for delicious foods and to also visit with a lady we went to school with and her cutie pie kid.

sandwich

This sandwich was full of veggies and also cashew butter, which was kinda weird but also delicious.

I also had the vegan cream of mushroom soup. Considering how rainy and cold it was, it was pretty much the perfect meal.

Then we were off to Victoria. The highway was terrifyingly wet, but we made it ok.

We spent the night in Victoria, and had dinner at Lotus Pond. I didn’t take any photos but the internet will teach you about it if you are interested.

We went with Shannon and Jesse, and ordered a mountain of delicious food. The mock lemon chicken was my favourite, because I am a monster.

rawceasar

The next day we had lunch at Cafe Bliss before heading back to Vancouver. I promise you we did things other than eating but you probably don’t want to hear about going to the mall or trying to teach my dog not to poo inside. I had the Avocado Caesar salad with raw croutons. I was kind of annoyed that it cost $14 for this salad but now when I think back to it, I wish I could have it in my body again. But I don’t know if I am dedicated enough to making raw food. You’d think it would be easy because hey it’s raw you don’t even cook it BUT actually you have to dehydrate stuff and that sounds like a lot of work.

greyskies

On the way back, I got all squirrelly and stood outside most of the way. It was cold, but beautiful and I listened to music and it was a pretty good time. I think I was just tired of sitting in the car. I’m not used to spending that much time in a car so I was going a bit crazy. I wish we had more time to spend over there but it is what it is.

mitts

Shannon gave me a pair of fingerless mitts, and they came in handy (lol get it) even if the ends weren’t woven in yet. She kept apologizing that one was tighter than the other but honestly they were made for someone with tall hands and I have weird tiny hands so it doesn’t even matter. Plus they are super warm and also PURPLE and so good.

Every time I go to the Island I end up wishing I could live there but I have the fear, oh god the fear, of where do you get jobs over there and also would it be the worst ever getting around because I do not have a car? I think I will end up there eventually but for now it makes sense to stay in Vancouver.

I love that my name is an actual tag. How did you make a whole post without putting up a single photo of Gypsy? :)

I’m glad you brought your camera though. I will find my charger and bring mine next time.
