Last weekend we went over to Sechelt to watch Maine’s cousin Jen get married. The wedding itself was super quick and casual – they got married on a dock right by the ocean. It was so quick we didn’t even need chairs! And during the ceremony, their daughter was all “look a bird!” and everyone laughed and also there was a line in their vows about promising to always listen to each other and everyone laughed double at that. I told Maine there was no way in hell I’d promise to do that cause half the time he’s talking about nerd things and my eyes just sort of glaze over.

The reception was held at Maine’s aunt’s place. I immediately respect anyone who gets married and knows where their priorities are in terms of the budget. The location was beautiful and the booze was plentiful.

The house was about ten steps from the beach so we went down there and Maine pondered life’s mysteries while some of the kids caught crabs. It was a little sad because one would yell “This one’s alive!” and another would respond “Not for long!”

The house was basically my dream home. We sat in the sun room for a bit and discussed what we’d do with it if it was our house. Maine thinks this would be his writing room, but I know better. It is obvious a loom would go better in there.

At his grampa’s house, I saw a piece of Kuba cloth that his grampa and his lady friend had purchased in Africa. I was a tiny bit sad when she told me that they bought it on the side of the road for $40. I think Tish’s morals about cloth have rubbed off on me, but at least I did not scold them for it.

I drank a lot of free booze and dropped my iPhone until Maine confiscated it from me. Then the next day I tried not to barf the net on the ferry back to our town.

In conclusion, I think Sechelt is delightful but you probably have to be super rich to live there and so, I do not think I ever will. But it is nice to visit.

I did not let them cook enough the first time and had to re-bake a bit but they are pretty delightful. I had one with Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese herb style. Now taking applications for sponsors so I can be a vegan superstar chef. (Or so I can hire a maid and buy a new camera so I can take better photos.)
I woke up craving bagels. Actually I have wanted one since last night. If you are Tams, you have a very specific kind of lazy. It is the kind of lazy that does not want to go outside, so instead of picking up bagels from the store, you bust out the flour and get to making your own. (So I am not sure if lazy is the right term?)
I could show you photos but right now the dough is rising, so I thought I’d pop in and say hello. It feels like forever since I last posted a thing.

Ok let’s talk about Vancouver. Most of you probably know that in a past life I was a big time hockey fan. I still like the hockeys, but I do not go to the same lengths as I did before. Example: In the old days, I got excited for prospect camp at 8 Rinks and would wake up at the crack of dawn to watch the young ones practice. I was probably one of the first people who ever “Luuuuuuc”‘d at Luc Bourdon (sad face). The year he was drafted, I saw him coming into the building at 8 Rinks and started Luuuuuucing without realizing he’d actually entered and could hear me. He looked at me. I ran away in terror.

Over the last two years I just became too busy to keep up. For a while we didn’t even have cable due to being the poorest ever, and then one time I got tricked into getting cable on a promotion from the company I now work for. (P.S. if you are one of those people who call and ask for a better deal, I will give you the secret for getting all the tv for a few of the dollars: Apply for a job and work for them, because then you get a sweet deal and you can even watch TV Polonia if you want.)
Once we got a PVR it became a bit easier to keep up with the games but honestly even now I still find myself getting distracted a lot. My feelings are: hockey is a form of entertainment. If it is not entertaining me, I am going to go do something else. I might keep it on still, but I will probably internet through it.

This makes me sound like I don’t care, but I actually still really do. I wanted them to win the Cup, but I also understood that it was awesome that they got as far as they did and I am still pretty proud of everything they accomplished. And I know next season will happen and they’ll give it another go.

So yeah, I was pretty bummed about the result on Wednesday, but not nearly as bummed as I was about the reaction of a pathetic few. I’m not even going to really talk about it because I think by now everyone knows that the people who trashed our fair city were not hockey fans. They were there with the intention of starting something no matter what the outcome of the game was. You don’t bring a balaclava to watch a hockey game. (This article sums up my feelings about it better than I ever could.)

The poopy thing about it is, it was actually really cool to be able to go downtown to watch the game with thousands of fans. Val and I went for game 4, and the result sucked, but it was nice to see people united and excited about it together.

After the game was over, we walked over Cambie bridge to get home as I was totally not interested in a Skytrain battle.

We stopped at Whole Foods because I wanted to find gelatin free gummy bears (thinking if I chomped them it might give the Canucks some good mojo?) but they were too expensive. Instead I bought a few supplies to make vegan calzones. My feelings so far about being Vegan Tams are that it is mega easy and delicious when I make my own food but completely annoying when I go out and have to fend for myself at restaurants or friends houses. I just need to be more prepared I guess.

My goal one day is to get a better camera. Dare to dream. Also one exploded a bit but was still delicious.

Anyhoo, last weekend we went to Sechelt for a wedding and basically I fell in love with the place and with Maine’s aunt’s house. It was seriously my dream home. I need some millions of dollars so I can buy it. Ok! I will share that in a bit, I am going to go tend to my bagels now.
