I think when life gets overwhelming it is good to watch this video, even though it is old as far as the internet is concerned. It will make you feel good about how much stuff you have to do, and how much you can accomplish if you WORK HARD.
Speaking of working hard, today we had a class field trip to Circle Craft at Granville Island to meet Ruth Jones, who is an awesome tapestry making lady. She talked to us about her work and how to be awesome at art and also what happens when your dog gets skunked.
She was super awesome and inspiring and mostly I just wanted to go work on my tapestry AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
So then we returned to school and I made a cartoon and yes I am weaving Jupiter, what else is new? (It is about 13.5 inches wide and 12 inches tall, please cry for me when you think of how long it will take to weave.)I just thought it might look cool. I really would like to get more into tapestry, but it is pretty time consuming so I think it will have to wait until I have finished school. Then I will invest in a delightful loom and when I told Maine I wanted one he gave me the stink eye and said I already have looms, so I had to explain that there are different kinds of looms and anyway he already HAS video games so I guess he doesn’t need other more different games.
This is my dream car outside my dream home. Have a good night!
We ran out of toilet paper so we had to go to the store to get more and also to get groceries, and on the way back we saw two young ladies and like a herd of children, and the ladies were ignoring the kids to talk on their cell phones and one kid in particular was lagging behind and crying. And I said, very quietly, as the kid looked at me, “If you think it sucks now, give it a couple more years.” Then Maine and I decided I was the rudest ever, and then I tried to redeem myself by saying we could ask the kid if she wanted to come be our adopted daughter except we can’t promise a good life with lots of things but we do already own bright coloured band-aids and I think that is kind of important as kids get into scrapes and who wants a gross band-aid? Right?
Anyway, the other day Maine and I both had a day off together because he was wrongfully fired by his awful employers who decided they could get rid of him because he doesn’t have a driver’s license despite the fact that they knew that when they hired him. So we went for a walk down the drive with the intention of buying… I forget what. Cat food? Maybe.
We had lunch at the fire pizza place by Prado, I do not know what it is called, it might even be called Fire Pizza (I hope so, at least). It was only a tiny bit more dollars than the regular places, like Uncle Fatih’s (gross) and Fresh Slice (slightly less gross). I had lamb donair pizza and thought about how the innocence makes it taste extra delicious (I kid, I kid).
Then we saw that sweet poster I showed above, which is basically everything in life that I love, and also we went to a store with kid things and I wanted to buy everything.
They also had this sweet loom, and really $50 is not so bad for a tapestry loom I guess. Though I got mine for free, and I am coveting this one. We use those at school, and if I was really dedicated I would make my own, but I am not, and also I feel ok about supporting people who are awesome. Also I am doing a tapestry of Jupiter. Are you excited? I am.
Oh by the way I made another QR code and this one doesn’t work either. I suspect weaving is not the correct medium. However, I’ve thought of ways to make it bigger and better possibly but that will have to be a post-school thing. Also I want to say this one probably doesn’t work because it is hard to mount it in a way where the lines are perfect and also I still did not weave it the best ever, but at the same time I did sort of conquer double weave pick up so let’s just take a moment to reflect on that.
Once you are done, please also reflect on how I would look if you replaced half my face with a mutant organic apple.
