Archives: 2010 December

Hello friends,

I know I have been somewhat absent. Things got a little crazy there. And then I got sick, again. But it is ok, I am on the mend and ready to go back to school already. (It has only been a week since the last day. Hmmmn.)

I know I have promised photos of things I’ve been working on, so here are a couple. I am lazy though, you have been warned.

This is the weirdo wave inspired scarf made from organic cotton. Ombre dyed in Indigo. There are elastic threads in the warp, and it was woven in an undulating twill pattern. I like how it sproings up and looks sort of like one of those old timey ruffley collars.

Then I bedazzled and sewed like a crazy person to make a pillars of creation hoody.

Probably I should have sprayed more pigment on it to make it even more gaseousy but live and learn I guess. I am sad because it is currently being held hostage at school and I will not be able to get it until after the New Year.

So once upon a time a week ago I went bowling with Hilary and her man posse. They wore robes, Big Lebowski style. I have only seen parts of that movie.

Many beers were had. It was a pretty ok time until the next morning when I woke up and barfed the net. I am getting too old maybe for so many beers. But also I was sick so maybe we can blame it on that?

Then at work we had Secret Santa and I stressed over it way more than I should have. I gave my secret person some popcorn, some apple cider, and a Home Alone dvd. (I tried to find Santa’s Slay because that is more funny to me but it is impossible to find last minute. Stores were like “Santa’s what?!” Good times.

I like it because it has Big Love style Mason Raymond in it.

This is what I got from my Secret Santa. Pretty much it is hard to buy presents for strangers I guess.

Pretty much there is less than one week left in the semester now. I am feeling the crunch. Literally. Last night I am not sure if I dreamed it or if it was real, but I kept feeling like my heart was going one thousand times faster than it should and like it might implode or explode. Either of those plodes are not good, let me tell you. And it disturbs me a little not being sure if it was real or not.

But the good news is, it is almost done. And then I get a tiny break. And then next semester I only have to work 20 hours a week instead of 30 and I think it will make a significant difference in my life, having a whole day off every week. EVERY WEEK!

Pretty soon maybe I’ll have pictures of actual work. I am making a space lady hoody of the pillars of creation and having a gigantor blanket woven by a machine.

The other day I went downstairs to do some laundry and there was a note that was posted on the wall that said something really passive aggressive like “Thanks for using all our expensive laundry soap!” and I really, really, really wanted to write one back that said “There is this really cool invention that prevents people from stealing your stuff, it is called a door! Your apartment came with one! It even has a lock, for extra protection!” but I am kind of a dick. I mean ok yes I think it is rude that people used it all up, but on the other hand I don’t know why everyone leaves it all down there anyway. We buy fancy kind so pretty much we store it in our apartment with our other things. Though I will admit, in a pinch, I have stolen a tiny bit of laundry sauce when we ran out. Sorry guys! So I guess that makes me double an asshole hahahha.

By the way I went to our company Christmas party and it was basically madness with the free wine and delicious foods. Maine took a lot of desserts. And other things.

By the way I am still laughing about this.

Also last night I went to the hockey game with Jen, Steph and Val and good times were had by all. Except the Ducks probably.

If you ever need to go to GM Place Rogers Arena I can give you really good directions.

I am sort of thinking about making more videos next year. You’ll watch ‘em, right?
