Hey internet,
Hope everything is good. Just a quick photo dump while I watch the Canucks play their first home game in 6 weeks.
Speaking of hockey, this fills my heart with glee:
So in other news, we warped up for our midterm project in weaving yesterday. I did it really fast and then realized that I made a huge mistake and then it took forever to fix it. Basically what happened is I overheard a classmate talking about her project, and she said 1-2-3-4 for the threading and I was like “Yes, that is a threading that a person might use…” except it wasn’t the threading I had planned (1-2-3-4-3-2 repeatttttt).
I was all “I rule!” when I took this picture, because I had managed to warp up relatively quickly. I started on my pattern and thought “Hmmn, that’s not what it should look like…”, and my smug face soon turned into D: omg what have I done face.
I had two choices. Change the pattern so I would not have to re-thread the heddles, or suck it up, pull them out and re-do it. (I should mention I had 84 threads, which is not the most ever but still annoying.)
After a few minutes of “I AM SO DUMB” I decided to pull them out. I am making a bag inspired by a peacock feather and I just don’t think it would be the same with a twill pattern.
This is my yarn – I dyed it myself. Beautiful, non? It is just some Cascade 220, but it is much nicer than the Quebecoise yarn they have at school.
Here are some other yarns that my classmates dyed.
Anyways, long story short it took FOREVER to re-thread because I missed one heddle in the middle and had to go back and fix it… then I missed one thread in the reed and had to go back and fix that. Pretty much I did not finish warping up until about 4:30, so then I did two rows of twining and called it a day.
I checked my text messages while I was leaving school and saw an invitation to dinner at Shelby and Steph’s, so I checked with Maine to see if he wanted to go. Free food = very yes, so I went home and then we headed over together.
They made homemade pasta and you can probably read about it on Steph’s blog one day. It was pretty nom-tastic! (Also I learned that I am good at talking about myself on the internet, hooray!)
We Rock Banded but mostly I did not because my arms hurt a super lot from looming. Seriously I felt like such a baby but it hurt so bad. Eventually I sang “In the Middle” and then we went home, and a bus driver was rude to us.
This morning on the way to return my library books we saw that the Czech house is apparently just down the street from us. Good to know! I hope they have delicious Czech beers to share with me.
We decided to have ghetto breakfast at the Seto Cafe which is basically one dollar more than Bons but way less full of hipsters. Also they always get my order right and do not bring me some abomination that I not only did not order but also isn’t even on the menu. Seriously.
After we returned the books we got a case of the crazies and decided to go to Metrotown. I am not sure why. But this weird Canada Olympic robot made the trip almost worth it.
What made it actually worth it was this frozen yogurt place, previously a pretty meh bagel place. It is self serve! They have many flavors! And toppings!
The lady saw us staring in tentatively, so she offered us a free sample and it was pretty rad. This is not the sample, though. This is what we were suckered into buying. We made a wise decision to split one so this is kind of an abomination of what Maine wanted and what I wanted.
He added vanilla chocolate swirl, and I got a bit of mango. Then we put oreos, some cinnamon toast crunch cereal and some raspberry sauce on top. It was pretty ok. They had Fruity Pebbles! We almost got some as well but decided to hold back.
By the way, Maine is obsessed with this apartment building. It is secret huge in the back and apparently has a door to nowhere.
Thanks for stopping by! We’ll talk again later ok
