presentation day

Today we presented our portrait projects, and I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I did not take a good picture of the one I did (the David Suzuki one I posted the other day). But! Here are some that were done by my classmates:

It’s always really interesting to me when we do presentations and look at each other’s work. Everyone has such different inspiration, and it’s cool to see how we can all learn the same techniques but do different things with them.

warshin the fleece

Oh, about a week ago one of my instructors went out and bought some romney fleeces. They were unwashed, so today Rebecca showed me the ways of washing it in the machine.

Then I made PINK SOUP with it. It is drying tonight and tomorrow maybe if I get a spare moment I’ll try carding some. Exciting! The only thing is, it is not very soft so i dunno what the balls I will do with it, but NO MATTER.

Rebecca's loooom

This is the warp of a crazy person. Mohair! In the warp! Why would you do that?

rebecca's dyed romney

This is the fleece Rebecca dyed. So magic.

flower necklace group project

Also we had a group project in class where we had to make a thing out of bits of another thing and this is pretty much what we came up with.

Oh, and Maine right now is playing Mario Galaxy and he just did my most favourite level where you are a bee and you get to crawl on the big momma bee, SO GOOD.

I apologize for the crap quality, this was the shortest video I could find that actually showed the momma bee.

Bonjour, l’internet.

The weekend that just happened was the weekend of TWO LUNCHES. This was my first lunch. It is rice in a pineapple boat that was acquired by me at the Banana Leaf restaurant.

This was Asha’s lunch. We met up to talk about things and life and other things. I haven’t seen her in person in like a year. Sad times.

The restaurant had lots of colours but not so much flavours. I was expecting it to maybe be a bit too spicy for me but I think they were holding back, trying not to offend anyone.

Here I am, secret creeping. It was ok. Then after I ate there, I went home and Tremaine’s parents were here so we went for sushi. TWO LUNCHES. So crazy. I had a tiny bit of food to make them not offended but I dunno if I would ever do sushi dessert again.

Oh also I am having some issues with my weaving… I feel like this pattern is too overwhelming. I might switch. I don’t know. It is weird because I feel compelled to make something that is not a scarf so that my teacher is not like “Weaksauce, Tams. Weak. Sauce.” but on the other hand maybe I just want to make a scarf, ok? But not really. So help me, Rhonda, whoa help me Rhonda. What do I do? Keep going? Switch patterns? Dye more that is the same colour as the warp (up and down) and use that for weft (back and forth – with the same poop – forever)?

Special cookie for you if you get the reference.

This makes me about as happy as Daylight Savings time. Hello, sun, we missed you so. <3
