So I’m always like “I am not a night person” and suddenly within the span of oh 4 days I turned into a night person thanks to no homework and the first season of Dexter. Last night I was up until almost 7 am working on Christmas ornaments and watching Dexter holy crap NEED MORE.
So the other day I was kind of bored and I was trying to figure out what to do. Part of me just wanted to go to Dressew and then the rest of me wanted to go to the gallery.
I convinced myself that it would take SO MUCH TIME to go to the gallery but in the end I went anyways and it took way less time than I thought it would because I didn’t bother looking at the Landscapes exhibition (I have already seen it).
Having a membership to the art gallery is awesome because it means you can go whenever the balls you want and not wait in line and oh by the way the gallery is way less crowded if you go not on by donation day and also if you go when most people are at work.
I was super excited to see they put up the lawn chair whale skeleton again. It is not permissible to take photographs in the gallery but I am good at the internet so I found you these ones.
It feels a bit eerie to stand under but it is totally rad.
I am wayyyy immature so you can imagine my reaction to these guys. I really have no idea if it was a coincidence or not but they were hanging right by a video piece of a woman licking a piece of glass with an audio track of ladies giggling. I nearly burst out laughing when I heard it, and had to go around the corner to inspect what was going on. (It’s called “As If” by Yoko Takashima and the internet is not being kind to me on this one.)
There was also a funny thing that happened when I was in the Scott McFarland part where there were two pictures that were covered with fabric. And I stared at them for a few seconds wondering what to do, because I seem to always get in trouble at the gallery for standing too close to things or looking like I’m going to lean on something. So then the security lady comes up to me and says it’s ok for me to touch it, and I laughed and was all “Oh man I wasn’t sure if I was allowed”.
I like art I can touch. I think this is why I’m drawn to textile arts.
I finished up around 4:10 and decided I had enough time to make it to Dressew, so I walked over and holy man I went past Holt Renfrew and I have to say I LOVE CHRISTMAS BECAUSE IT SPARKLES SO HARD and I am glad Holt Renfrew has all the money to make sweet displays.
50% off will still be all the dollars ever, P.S.
I am almost done my ornaments (yes I have been procrastinating) so I will post them soon. Also check out how awesome I am at arting:
I need to step up my game in Art History but overall I am pretty happy. I would like to do better next term though. Less procrastination, more awesome!
