My Macbook bit the dust. I was trying to upload a video of my bunny being cute from my camera, and so I plugged in the USB, turned on the camera and my computer epic failed for no reason.
This is very similar to the face I made when it happened. Sad times.
So then this morning we took it down to the Apple store downtown. No, we did not buy Apple Care. I thought that would be the only problem.
It turns out, actually, that Apple products epic fail so often that you need to make appointments before someone can look at it and take all your dollars. The lady standing just under the Genius Bar symbol helped us make an appointment online. For tomorrow. At 5 pm. Mrrrr.
As we left the store we were like “WTF” and kind of annoyed, and then I realized that hey there are other places that sell Apple products and maybe they know how to fix things? So we crossed the street and hopped on the 16 up to Granville and Broadway, and then walked over to WestWorld Computers.
Jokes on Apple cause we only had to wait 5 minutes to talk to the Service Guy, and that was only because he was on lunch. He plugged my machine in, turned it on and said “Yeah it’s the hard drive. It’s not spinning. We can install a new one if you want, the smallest will be $129 plus $30 something for service.”
Ding, ding, we have a winner. So now we’re getting a hard drive that is twice the size of our original one. I mean it sucks, but we should have it back tomorrow. I hope.
Then we went over to Chapters to ogle books, and I really want that Alice in Wonderland copy in the middle but we practiced restraint and did not buy anything.
I have some friends who practice “Africa month” when they are real poor, and yes I realize that is totally offensive, but it is kind of where we are at right now. So our version is actually more like “Ok we are going to eat more vegetarian meals and not buy a lot of crap”, which in the end is probably way better for us anyways and we should do it more often. I frankensteined this meal together by chucking vegetables in a pan with some tofu and curry powder. Voila!
Maine says all my meals have the same vegetables but if it’s pasta I add tomato sauce, if it’s Indian I add curry powder, if it’s soup I add stock, if it’s pizza I put it on dough with cheese, if it’s chili then we add beans. He is kinda right. Usually it is: onion, carrots, celery, mushrooms, zucchini, peppers, and usually garlic or sometimes grated ginger, depending on what I am making.
So there you go. The basis of most of my recipes.
On our way home we stopped at the weird army surplus store across the street. We’ve lived here almost a year and have never been, it is kind of sad. But they had some amazing signs and also gorillas and most of the stuff was pretty cheap.
We looked for a hat for Maine but sadly were not able to find one that wasn’t ridiculous and that also fit properly. The medium, she was too small, but the large, she was too big. Sad times.
However if this was not $60 I definitely would have bought it for him.
Oh yeah last night we walked to the Grind for no reason. It started out as “hey let’s go for a walk” and ended up in almost 4km of trekking through the city.
These people still had Halloween decorations up, which was kinda rad.
It was far and wet and cold, but also kinda fun, so I think we will maybe do a similar walk again.
Ok dudes I’m out. I might add some videos to the Youtubes maybe? I dunno.
P.S. If I could wear this every day I totally would:
