I don’t even know where to begin so I am just going to dive right in.
I had to make a basket for one of my projects in my Weaving class. This is pretty much how it turned out. I wanted to make something involving snake skin originally but I couldn’t think of anything, and then somehow I thought of jellyfish so I decided to make a jellyfish with lights inside of it.
I sincerely apologize for the poor photo – I was going to take a picture at home but could not find an available extension cord. I will try to get a better photo once the project is handed back to me.
Basically it is a coiled light basket inside a larger basket I made by using twining. I wanted it to be bigger but I ran out of cable (I cut up one of our old ones) and time.
It looks way better in the dark but you get the idea. It is funny to me because I put on the Life Aquatic while I was working on it last night and then there was that scene on the beach and I was all “OMG”.
Here are some of the other projects people made. There were some others, including one that was a full body cocoon made of strips of blankets. It was neat:
Ok, so.
I still don’t understand this rabbit – whenever he is out, he runs away from me. So of course then I have to chase him and grab him, which probably only makes him want to run away from me more. But other than that, he has relaxed quite a bit. He plays with the cats (as much as they will play with him), and lounges around in his poo box. I think he needs a bed.
The other night we went to pity thanksgiving at Jen’s, and I tried to take a picture on the way there of the skyline but basically trying to do this without a tripod = fail.
I won a contest over on Chedderfish’s blog, but only because I was the only person who entered. I have a feeling most of her readers already had a copy of the Love, Elsie recipe box. I am thinking one day I should maybe give something away but I am not sure anyone wants the junk I make, even if it is free!
Oh! P.S. Today on the bus I saw someone knitting in front of me and I was pretty sure they were a gentleman cause from behind they had boy hair and also boy hands, so I was super super excited. I love when people knit on the bus, but I have never seen a man do it. However, when I got off the bus I realized it was actually a lady and this took away some of my buzz.
So then I came home and googled some men knitting. Here is what I found. Swoon with me for a moment.

Apparently this is Cary Grant, and he was a man that people cared about in the olden days.

This gentleman is knitting a square to send to Africa. Very noble.
By the way, I also found a community for gentleman knitters. If I was single I would probably be trolling this site for dates. Instead I think I will trick Maine into learning how to knit. At the very least he could work on the scarf he has been harassing me about for the last year.
Oh and I also wanted to mention that we worked on felting today and I made the most gimpy slippers ever as a test before I try to make boots. The left foot is too big and feels a bit like the right foot. And the felt on both is way too thin but hey lesson learned I guess. Also I haven’t shaved in like 6 weeks, I tried to blur the hairs with the dodge thing but uh yeah just ignore that.
Do not even ask me what the balls that is supposed to be. We did some wet felt samples last week and then this week we needle felted onto them and I just wanted colours, so many colours. I was going to make a monster and I guess it is kind of a monster? Also the little green light bulb I thought would make a decent pin. I dunno. I am just sort of making random things.
I don’t know if I could ever do a normal person job after this, guys. What am I gonna do? I have been trying to make friends with the lady in my class who has been doing this for ages. She sells tie dye stuff in Whistler and says the underwear paid her tuition. I think she may know how to achieve not being a normal person. I am going in on Sunday so we can make more felt and I think she is going to help me make boots. YES!
