Archives: 2009 August

I feel like I have been gone a while and a lot of things have happened but that is not really true. Actually, I slept most of this afternoon, but it was kind of nice.

Here I am trying to be excited about a candy bar with caffeine in it. It was not very exciting. I was a bit disappointed.

Anyways. On Sunday we had breakfast, and then headed out to the lake for a bit. It seemed a bit too cold to swim, so I just took some pictures.

Grande Cache lake

Yes, Jen. I just show up and nature looks pretty.

Grande Cache lake

When I was a kid I used to sit on this dock and pretend the lake was an ocean.

This is an eagle, I promise.

Hello friends.

I have been rather absent lately. I am sorry if you have been checking for new posts. I am in Alberta now, and have been since Friday. I was bumped up to an earlier flight on Friday afternoon, and then spent almost 3 hours hanging out at the Edmonton airport. I made the mistake of leaving my headphones for Maine so I basically had nothing to do while waiting for the plane. Awesome!

Grande Prairie at night

I got into Grande Prairie at about 11:15 pm, which is really only 10:15 BC time, so it wasn’t super late. But I’d had a long day. That morning I bid farewell to eBay CS Vancouver, and had a Freedom Breakfast at Bon’s with some former co-workers. Of course I didn’t pack or get ready ahead of time, so finding out I was on an earlier flight was a bit of an anxiety party.

good ol' Grande Prairie

You wish you were here, right? Ha!

hotel mess

The hotel was pretty swank, though, and the bed was comfortable. Also do you like my obnoxious luggage? It makes finding your bags after a flight pretty rad. You just look for the colour in the sea of black bags.

my cousins are funny

Before the wedding we headed over to Costco to buy some things with my aunt, uncle and cousins. We got there before it opened so they decided to surf on the cart.

my uncle and his hat and a wedding

A wedding happened here.

so albertan

I guess these kids were kinda the flower girl/ring bearer. Mostly they just drove that thing around through the entire ceremony. The actual ceremony was short and sweet, which is good because it was windy and we couldn’t really hear them all that well.

his lady is pretty

I guess this lady, Nicole, is my cousin now. Cousin in law? Her dress was beautiful. I don’t really speak to my cousin Wade so I don’t know either of them well, but they seemed really happy and I hope that continues.

field across from 5 mile hall

This field was across the street from the hall where they had their reception. It smelled amazing.

I am not even going to talk about the production that was driving out to the hall. We made it ok, some others did not.

My mom and I did not stay for the whole reception, partly because it was going to be mega expensive to stay another night, and also because I was tired and just wanted some quiet time. We left at about 9 and got home around 11:30. It’s about 180 km, but we drove pretty slow because there were deer all over the place and I did not want to die.

I will post some more pictures in a bit. It’s time to take a nap.
