I am working on a painting that has been in progress in one form or another since February. It is a birthday gift for Tremaine that I tend to get overwhelmed by, even though when I work on it, it doesn’t feel like work.
There is another half to it that has a tree and a little shrub. I am so far from done.
I am listening to Beirut and Sunset Rubdown, because those are the only two artists I have on my desktop computer. The majority of my music is on the laptop, which Tremaine brings to work at night.
This song is magical:
What sorts of music are you into right now? I tend to stick with my 5 favourite bands because I am lazy that way (they are the National, Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade, Okkervil River and Beirut). I’m open to suggestions.
And now for your daily dose of cute:
Bertram thinks the clean laundry is a fabulous place to sleep (this is my own fault for not folding it/putting it away).
Louford likes to steal my seat on the couch the instant I get up.
Jarkko likes to chew on his litter box, and then give me the grumpy pants look when I interrupt him to take a photo.
Yesterday a few of Maine’s friends came out from Maple Ridge. We sat around for a bit trying to decide if we should go to Science World, the IMAX, or the aquarium. Clearly the aquarium won, which is appropriate, because Trev was wearing his Aquaman shirt. I do not know who Aquaman is.
We sort of forgot it was Father’s day. The place was packed. Also we did not get there until like 3:30 so our time was pretty limited.
Every time we see dolphins it always leads to us talking about Mars. It makes sense, trust me. Mars is like the dolphin of space. Every time you watch a documentary about the ocean, they spend like an hour talking about dolphins. One time we rented a movie about the Deep Ocean and they still somehow managed to get dolphins in there. It was disappointing. I want to see monsters! Not dolphins!
Anyways, Mars is the dolphin of the solar system, I guess because we know the most about Mars and have actually sent things there that were able to land. But Mars kinda bores me. Like ok we get it, there are some rocks and ice and mostly it sucks.
For some reason these guys reminded me of Lou. Goofy, curious and lazy. Yes, that sounds about right.
The octopus is probably my favourite, but pretty difficult to photograph. His corner is pretty dark and of course like a million people were crowded around every time. This time someone pissed him off and he was all “screw this I’m going home”. Cuuuuuute!
So pretty! I like all the colours.
These things freak me out, but they are graceful and also creepy.
I thought this guy was kinda cute, all zipping around noming on floor dirt.
You know when people ask you what kind of animal you would like to be? I think I might pick sea turtle. They live a long time and they get to just fly around the sea. Pretty sweet. Plus they are mega cute. I remember seeing some documentary and there was a cleaning station for the turtles in the ocean and man those turtles looked pretty happy.
The Amazon part is neat but so so hot and also they say to go around one way only but no one ever does. Le sigh.
Yeah dude I hear ya.
When people talk about things being “natural” colour I kind of wish they would realize that nature makes colour AWESOME sometimes.
And of course no visit is complete without a stop at the gift shop. We got matching ones. Mine is cuter.
Oh and we also got to see the 2 week old baby beluga. So cute. Like seriously so cute. Just this little grey baby one scootin’ around. You had to line up to see it from the bottom viewing part and we missed the cut off for that, but we saw the baby from the top and that was just as good. The belugas are my second favourite because they look super happy and peaceful. One time I went there with Asha when we were still at UBC and we saw them poop.
