Archives: 2009 May

I’m told new content is the thing that brings people back, so I am going to try to update fairly often. This means sometimes I’m going to have nothing to talk about. So for those times, like now, I will talk about things that I love, in no particular order.

Today the thing I want to tell you about that I love is Frankie Magazine.

Frankie

I wish there was a magazine in Canada or even just North America that was as awesome as Frankie.

I wish I didn’t have to scour the city looking for a copy.

I wish it didn’t cost me like $11 to buy one.

I wish it came out more often than once every two months.

It is full of pretty things and Aussie slang and it is not like “Here are 20 sex tips to make your man friend love you forever and ever”. Sometimes when I read it I wish I could have afternoon tea and be covered in freckles and sit on the beach being full of sunshine.

It is kind of what Nylon would be if they weren’t too busy being hipsters.

Maine and I just got back from a very frustrating bus date.

Every once and a while we take a bus just for fun. I know it seems kinda ridiculous, because let’s face it: taking the bus sucks. But it gives us a chance to go somewhere without spending a lot of money, and it also takes us away from the distractions of our home life. We can have a conversation without one of us reaching for the laptop or playing a video game or whatever.

Anyways, long story short, we went to Nanaimo station so we could take the #7. When we got there, it was 15 minutes until the next bus was supposed to be there. It never showed up. Ten minutes after it was supposed to be there, the very next bus came and parked about 15 feet from the sign to let everyone off. Then the driver let everyone get on while they took their break, so basically everyone at the front of the line (ie myself and Tremaine) got shafted when it came to getting a seat.

Maine was furious, and I was too hopped up on caffeine to be really angry (I’ve had two venti americanos today… eeek!)

Once we got through sketchytown we got a seat but man it was pretty balls up to that point. We originally planned to go all the way to Dunbar but got off at Broadway to take the #9 home.

The whole time I was concerned that someone was going to break into our apartment. We left the patio door open because it was so hot earlier, but really we live on the third floor. It is pretty unlikely someone will be that dedicated to climb up and steal our things.

But we have awesome things and I do not want them to get stolen! Like the guitar that I should play more of, and the machine I am typing on right now.

So I think I am starting to get the hang of this. The design is still not what I want, but it’s better than nothing, and it will do until I figure it out a bit better.

WordPress has been easy to figure out, the rest of it… less so. But hey I did a thing with CSS and didn’t break the whole thing. This has to count for something.

I haven’t decided yet if I will continue to post on Livejournal (seems kinda pointless now, doesn’t it?) but I know a lot of people are lazy over there and won’t click over. I don’t have a paid account so I can’t make an RSS feed syndication thing (hint hint to those of you who do have one).

This is boring.

I like books with a lot of pictures… I assume most people like pictures on blogs also.

ebay green team

That’s me, being green. It’s funny because when it was announced that we were getting laid off, one of the questions my coworker asked was “Are we still going to get our Sigg bottles?”

The truth is, eBay is being pretty generous all things considered. And yes, we still got our bottles.

I am a little bummed cause my gentleman caller shaved off his beard. I wanted to build a little house in it. <3

Last weekend we went to Deep Cove and there was this magnificent car there. I don’t normally get excited about cars but my goooodness.
